Exterior
A car’s exterior not only protects the interior from dirt and scratches but also makes it more beautiful and attractive. The Daihatsu Mira is very popular in Pakistan due to its sporty look and vibrant colours.
Standard tire sizes are 155/65 on 14-inch rims at the rear and 155/65 on 14-inch rims at the front with 155 mm ground clearance. The front end of the car contains a large trapezoidal grille with top and bottom openings. The exterior paint looks good and needs little effort to keep it shiny.
Interior
Everybody wants to enjoy the ride and the interior of the car is very important while driving as you will spend most of your time in the car. Mira car has surprisingly enough space in front and you can also stretch your legs. However, the back seats are rather cramped, especially for tall people.
Legroom for rear seat passengers is also limited but can be increased by adjusting the front seats. The dashboard has all basic controls including power starring, digital speedometer, AC, and CD. Although this car is specially designed for a small family its rear boot space is very small. You can’t carry an additional tire with you, but you can use it for small baggage.
Technical details
The Daihatsu Mira X has a 3-cylinder DOHC (dual Overhead Camshaft) engine, a regular gasoline engine KF-VE which is much more fuel efficient than a 4-cylinder engine of the same size. The engine generates a maximum power of 58.8 PS @ 7200 rpm and a maximum torque of 64.7 @ 4000 rpm.
A front-wheel drive (FF) along the CVT gearbox transmits engine power to the road. Daihatsu Mira X has a rear drum brake and disk brake at the front. Standard tire sizes are 155/65 on 14-inch rims at the rear and 155/65 on 14-inch rims at the front with 155 mm ground clearance which is not enough for bumpy roads.
To increase the ground clearance, you need to replace the tires or raise the suspension. Daihatsu Mira X has strut front suspension and torsion beam-type rear suspension to ensure a safe and smooth drive.
Fuel-Mileage
Daihatsu Mira X gives an impressive fuel mileage of approximately 18 km/L in the city and 22 km/L on highways and its competitor Suzuki Mehran gives a fuel mileage of approximately 15 Km/L in the city and 18 Km/L on highways.
The fuel efficiency goes down if you accelerate the vehicle instantly from a stop sign. Moreover, following too close, rush driving, and changing gears rapidly also decrease fuel efficiency. To increase the fuel mileage, you just need to leave the home 10 minutes earlier and drive gently on the road.
Safety Features
When it comes to safety features, all four variants of Daihatsu Mira are equipped with high-quality safety features to ensure a safe and secure drive. Its safety features include two airbags in all variants except the Mira G SA III, which has 6 airbags to keep you safe in any kind of unfortunate situation. Moreover, it has an anti-lock braking system, child safety lock, immobilizer, and traction control to ensure maximum safety.
Car Maintenance
Daihatsu Mira is a wholly owned subsidiary of Toyota and its spare parts can be easily purchased from different automobile markets in Pakistan. Moreover, many suppliers in Pakistan are delivering spare parts online and a great advantage of ordering online is that any spare part can be quickly shipped to your doorstep.
Main Competitors
Suzuki Alto 660cc is the main competitor of Daihatsu Mira and is consistently ranked as the best-selling brand in Pakistan. However, Daihatsu Mira is more reliable and fuel-efficient with more advanced safety features. Further, the price of the Suzuki Alto car ranges from PKR 2,331,000 and PKR 3,045,000 which is quite expensive and it also lacks important safety features.
Mitsubishi EK Wagon 660cc is another strong competitor of Daihatsu Mira. It is a Japanese brand and its price ranges from from PKR 1,690,000 to PKR 2,520,000 for a used Mitsubishi Ek Wagon. It has an attractive exterior and it gives a fuel mileage of 18km/Litre on a smooth drive. But its maintenance is quite expensive and spare parts are not easily available. Moreover, it’s AC trips if you are stuck in the traffic under the sun for a while.

Conclusion – Should You Buy Daihatsu Mira?
If we look at the features that Daihatsu promises in the latest model of Mira, it is evident that the Daihatsu Mira is worth buying as compared to Suzuki Alto or any other 660c cars in Pakistan. By spending just a bit more cash, you get a 660c car that comes with ABS brakes, better air conditioning, a powerful engine, higher fuel efficiency, eye-catching aesthetics, and decent resale value. If I had to pick between Suzuki Alto and Daihatsu Mira, then definitely it would be Daihatsu Mira.
