Following its parent company, Hyundai Motor Company, it is the second-largest automaker in South Korea and the fifth-largest vehicle manufacturer in the world. Kia Motor currently produces over 1.4 million vehicles annually and it operates in the following sector:
- Passenger Cars,
- Recreational Vehicles
- Commercial Vehicles
KIA Motors in Pakistan
Pakistan is potentially a huge market with a population of almost 230 million people, but only 188,316 passenger cars were sold in the fiscal year 2022. However, the Indian automobile industry has experienced the highest-ever annual growth, and a total of 3.8 million cars were sold in the fiscal year of 2022.
In Pakistan, Suzuki Motor Corporation secured the top spot with 61.9% of market shares followed by Toyota and Honda with 21.4% and 13.7% market shares respectively.
KIA initially started its operation in Pakistan in mid-1990 but disappointing sales led to a halt in manufacturing.
KIA Motors re-entered the Pakistani market in 2016 and has made a partnership with Lucky Cement to re-launch the KIA brand under “KIA Lucky Motors” in Pakistan.
Both companies have invested initially PKR 12 billion to start manufacturing and assembling KIA vehicles in Pakistan.
KIA Cars in Pakistan
Since the 1960s, Japanese automakers are dominating the Pakistan car market. However, Suzuki, Toyota, and Honda cars are getting more expensive day by day and people in Pakistan are looking for a good alternative.
KIA started its operation in Pakistan by launching the Sportage in 2017 followed by the Sorento and Stonic.
All these models quickly gained the attention of consumers due to their stylish looks, excellent performance, and long-term reliability.
KIA is a quite new company in Pakistan as compared to its competitors but its cars have gained a good reputation due to their unique features, affordability, powerful engine, and overall driving experience.
Here are the most recent models of Kia cars available for sale at local dealerships.
KIA Cars | Price 2024 | Displacement | Warranty |
KIA Picanto | PKR 33.5 – 38.0 Lacs | 998 cc | 4 Years / 100,000 km |
KIA Stonic | PKR 53.5 – 62.8 Lacs | 1,368 cc | 4 Years / 100,000 km |
KIA Sportage | PKR 73.0 – 87.7 Lacs | 1,999 cc | 4 Years / 100,000 km |
KIA Sorento | PKR 89.9 – 94.9 Lacs | 2,359 cc | 4 Years / 100,000 km |
KIA Carnival | PKR 16,000,000 | 3,470 cc | 4 Years / 100,000 km |
KIA Company does not reveal the official sales figures for the fiscal year 2022. Further, KIA is not an official member of the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers Association (PAMA). As a result, the PAMA sales chart does not include the KIA sales.
However, Kia Sportage and Picanto can now be seen running side by side with Honda, Toyota, and Suzuki vehicles. It seems that the monopoly of Big 3 Japanese companies is at risk in Pakistan.
KIA has launched several vehicles so far and is committed to bringing new cars in 2024. KIA Sportage and KIA Stonic are dominating the local market due to their fancy interior, advanced safety features, powerful engines, and attractive exteriors.
