Government Slashes Prices of Petroleum Products by Rs 14/litre

The caretaker government of Pakistan surprised the country’s consumers on Friday by announcing a sharp decrease in fuel prices. For the next two weeks, the price of petrol will drop by Rs14 and that of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs13.50 per litre.

The Finance Division has released a notification stating that petrol prices have dropped by Rs14 and will now be available for Rs 267.34 per litre which was earlier being sold at Rs281.34.

Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel has been slashed by Rs13.50 per litre to Rs276.21 per litre from the previous Rs289.71 per litre.

In the transportation and agricultural industries, diesel is widely used, and farmers will reap substantial benefits from these price reductions.

The current government’s decision to pass on the international price benefit to consumers is a great step towards providing much-needed relief during this high inflation period.

The reduction in the prices of petroleum products will be applied from midnight 16/Dec/2023 and will remain valid for the next 14 days.
